Sapele and Mahogany wood, salvaged ghost nets. A seahorse is caught in fishing line. These delicate creatures are critically endangered due to loss of habitat, ocean acidification and pollution. Last year the ocean photography award went to a photo of seahorse dragging a face mask.
Fishing lines and abandoned fishing nets trap, kill, strand seahorses. These ghost nets are left to gather together and grow in size. These giant underwater icebergs kill marine life, create oceanic dead zones (there are over 300), block sunlight, break and kill coral and comprise 50% of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch.
