Looming shows the surface of a ghost net accumulation, but what is under the water surface?
Ghost nets are abandoned fishing nets left to gather together and grow in size. Just because a net is no longer used by fishers doesn’t mean it stops working. They continue to trap everything in their path. These giant underwater icebergs kill marine life, create oceanic dead zones (there are over 300), block sunlight, break and kill coral and comprise 50% of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch.
